Joy-Con works surprisingly well as a small macOS keypad. It is wireless, compact, and easy to keep next to your keyboard for actions you repeat all day.

Pair the Joy-Con in macOS Bluetooth settings, open Joy Control, connect the device, and move to the mapping tab. From there you can bind buttons such as A, B, L, R, ZL, and ZR to keyboard shortcuts or mouse actions.

Useful mappings include:

  • A: Enter
  • B: left click
  • L: Command + Tab
  • ZL: Space
  • ZR: screenshot or run current task

The goal is not to replace your keyboard. It is to move repetitive actions onto a tiny controller that is always within reach.
